Errors (typos) are probably acceptable. Mistakes happen when speed typing with one finger. The fact there is no spell checker on these pages doesn't help, but that is not the problem.
Hi ,
I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with ultralights, in particular Dave Edwards 'Affordaplane'?? I have the plans and hope to make a start on the frame in the coming weeks.
This weekend I'm going to sit quietly in the RH seat whilst one of our newer group members completes his first cross channel flight, inevitably to LFAT.
He seems to think I'm the fount of all knowledge and I'd hate the illusion to slip....
In my many travels on business the only EU country I never visited was Luxembourg. Just looking at a chart today I see it isn't that far from Reims. It would appear that the only airfield there (unless I missed it) is in Luxembourg City (I vaguely...
I have never quite understood the logic in this system.
How come a PA28 is not PFA but a Piper Cub is. In some cases I can work on a Lycoming if it is installed in a PFA aircraft but not if it is in a Cherokee.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to take passengers up once your Skills Test has been passed but before your licence arrives through the post? I have heard that it could be possible under supervision?
thanks
Having just returned from a long days flying, my son complained a bit about sustained background noise (bloody nimby!), despite the ANR gear which I have always found to be excellent.
I do know that frequent or prolongued exposure to high noise...
My certificate of revalidation states my PPL is valid until 02/09/2003. The date of test/check was 03/09/01. Unfortunately I have been unable to do the 12 hours required to remain valid, therefore I am to do the proficency test this week (as I'm...
Ok here goes. I have just started studying for JAR PPL (A) exams and intend to do my practical flying in Florida next year once I have passed the 7 ground school theory exams.
Can I just turn up at a local flying club and ask to sit these ?.
I regularly hear of or bump into people who have flown around the Docklands area in PA28s. City obviously don't mind you being there if you ask nicely but how do they get there from the south while still being able to glide clear. Does glide clear...
The latest edition of Flyer arrived today chez Sawyers. I had a quick flick through (to look at the book reviews :-() and then turned to QSY...............blimey an unrequested COLOUR picture and review of the most controversial GA mag.
Not a jibe at Martin, for a change but I was looking at the previour polls with regard to the overwhelming mistrust of EASA as indicated on the current one.
Looking at the other polls regarding change to rules etc the majority of votes always falls...
Just for fun I fancy doing a plank ppl (I'm another Rotorhead, you see) but to double the fun I want to do it in a diesel.
Anyone know a school with one, preferably with a real good instructor attached?

Steve Hislop (reigning British Superbike champion) was killed today in a helicopter crash in Scotland. He was flying solo on the way up from the south of England, so reports say.
Thoughts to his family and fans: tragic loss of a real superstar. He...
My regular flying partner has had his David Clark H10-40 headset stolen & the replacement he has bought, an H10-13.4 won't talk to my H10-40 (now a discontinued model). Has anyone got an H10-40 for sale or is there a set advertised on your airfield...
I've got 6hrs flying booked for next week and there is a vague possibility I might get to go solo, but its not going to happen if I haven't passed my Air Law exam.
I've got the Pratt book and PPL Confuser. Are there any sites worth noting with...
Anybody have a good suggestion for the next exam to take after Air Law? Thought I might have a crack at Aircraft Technical, but it looks a bit heavy going. All that pressure and temperature stuff looks pretty tedious. Which one is best for a bit of...
The reason I asked the question about Plymouth in my previous posting is that we are tentatively thinking of moving to that part of the world and I was trying to establish whether Plymouth would be a good place to base our a/c. From the replies so...
I have inherited a large collection of old mags from a mate. Having a FLYER sub already, I've ended up with a few duplicate copies of FLYER namely from late 2001, 2002 to early 2003.
Anyone want them before they get recycled? Volunteer collects...
I'm, thinking of doing an IMC in the post summer months.
I'll be living in Kent by then. Anyone able to put forward any recomendations for schools ? Rochester will be very close as will Headcorn. Don't fancy Biggin much due landing fees.
As a new PPL, my first passenger laden trip (over 45mins) that I intend to take this weekend will be from Stapleford down toward Dover town and back up North along the coast with the Dover Cliffs toward Deal and then route North West toward...
We're hopefully Portugal bound shortly. Now do we route direct over the Atlantic Ocean, south from Quimper. This will probably take us 80 or so miles from land for some time or do we skirt round the French western coast?
Surely it can't be out already? I rather fear my arch-enemy The Master has tricked me with an interstitial time vortex. Never ind, if I subscribe now I can get a sonic screwdriver that will fix the problem...
Having all read the Flyer readers test of the DA40 TDi I noticed the new Cirrus range in Flyer news.
Being, as you know, a Cirrus fan I got on the web sited to compare prices.
I wont publish my findings here as I will probably get in trouble but I...
I am an american interested in renting a plane in Poland and doing some flying there, does anyone have any information or ideas about how to get some information.
Would like to rent it for a few days if that is possible curious about costs per...
have just downloaded the latest jeppsen data base for my 196 and wonder of wonders the MATZ's are all shown as you would expect. Any other correction that anyone else has noticed to save me looking. EG is the manchester low level route heights...

last weekend i was doing some circuit bashing at kemble and a couple of hunters and a JP wanted to go flying, so i departed the circuit to the east to let them backtrack down the main runway, they did and all 3 took off and departed to the west, no...
This year's turout at the Branscombe Airshow and Classic Car Rally was pittyful. Despite there being a special airdisplay and free entry to pilots, only 70 aircraft turned up for the event. This is compared with the 120 in previous years!!! Where...
Thanks a bunch to Poet Pilot for taking me a spin in his Citabria yesterday - a lovely aeroplane and a delight to fly, although it took a while for me to get used to a stick instead of a yoke (after learning in SpamCans). Leading with the rudder in...
