Can you replace the spinner on a Cof A aircraft yourself or does it need and engineers involvement ? Just looking at it it seems a very easy swap, remove machine screws, fit spinner, replace screws with a dab of locking fluid, or am I missing something.
Sometimes you're the pigeon and sometimes you're the statue...........
If you have the right tools, locking wire etc., no practical problem. But you may have to remove the prop to fit a backplate; depends upon the design. Then you require: the right paperwork for like for like replacement; an understanding engineer prepared to release the replacement to service (sign); and check the correct tracking. Torque spanner required. Not a difficult job. But gotta be correct, or else....

Why there is a need to remove the prop if one removes old type X spinner in order to install new type X spinner? Your statement makes no sense, maybe a new engine at the same time?
Davey Get the spinner that you need to replace the old one and do it yourself.
Because the replacement spinner will probably not be pre-drilled. The replaement sppinner may be supplied with a different backplate, or one with different fixtures. Also, the replacement may not necessarily be supplied with the cut-outs for the blades. These are not simple tasks. It all depends on the installation, and the condition of the replacement parts. You will be lucky if it is a 'plug & play' job. It rarely is without a hidden tripwire.

Yet to find one not pre drilled and shaped for the prop. A replacement spinner will be designed to fit on the original backplate. That's why it's a replacement and not a retrofit.
Remove screws holding spinner to backplate, remove spinner, fit new spinner, reinstall the screws and tighten them. SIMPLES!!

Removing and replacing the spinner has to be within pilot maintenance privileges, not least because one needs to remove it to remove the lower cowling on certain aircraft types.
Spinner removed. Replaced with new spinner, part number XXXXX. Refitted and secured in accordance with manufacturers procedures. Signed, A. Pilot (who owns the aircraft)
