Dawn of a beautiful day! Looks like it's going to be a good one folks!

Apart from....for just South East Wales, Devon and Cornwall...

ISOL 3000 M +SHRA/+TSRA A1 FM 10Z

Let's fly round those, shall we? :D Hope the ground doesn't get muddy where we're going to be.

Guess I should pack an umbrella just in case...

The weather appears to be a bit too iffy to make such a long flyaway from EGCB so I guess it'll be somewhere a bit more local.

(Very amused by Cornwall, Devon and South Wales having its own dedicated 'A1' area of +SHRA/+TSRA)

Next time, pick a nicer day ;-)

As is turns ou, my aircraft was weather diverted yesterday afternoon. Had I set off by train or motorbike to Rochester (160 miles away) to collect her, I'd not have got the keys until 8ish, the pumps would have been closed and I'd not have had chance to get to Compton for the night.

So my scrubbing was very lucky.

Weather is fab in Dorset at 10:00 Saturdy

People kept telling us about this awful dramatic weather -- we were flying along in glorious sunshine wondering what all the fuss was about. "Oh those big tall clouds in the distance?..."

In point of fact I'm distinctly sunburned this evening!

I've come to the conclusion that Eggesford must be where good pilots go when they die -- What an utter gem of an airfield! :D

So if I'm a good pilot (doubtful!) and I go there - does final take on a rather more sinister connotation?

Sounds like you had a good time. Glad to hear it.

Any pics?

We have learnt to ignore weather forecasts ever since the Met Office moved down here.

The weekend was stunning - 60 nm vis and perfect flying conditions. Yes, there were some 'interesting' areas of weather, but they were only in small areas and easily avoided.

Don't ever believe the TAFs - we make our own assessment of the weather and have a better record of forecasting than Dan Corbett and his friends

Blimey!

As an ex-loadmaster I can definately say that the load is not restrained to the required 4g forward, 2.5g rearward and 2.5g upwards

A place for everything, and everything in its place.

(Had I managed this trip, can you imagine how the back of mine would have looked with 3 dogs and their baggage?!?!)

The stuff on top (above the seat-back line) was all soft stuff - duvet, pillows, jumper, coat, cuddly toy...

The heavy stuff's all underneath.

All these people going on about all these new Rotax powered jobbies...try getting that lot in the back of a C42 or Eurostar! :D

What a cracking weekend. Best visibility I've seen so far this year, possibly better than any time last year too! The weather couldn't have been better, brilliant sunshine all the way round with just enough cloud on Saturday to have a nice play around the tops of some fluffy stuff. We were told of the storm (one did pass through apparently) by those who lived underneath it recounting tales of two inches of hail the size of thumbnails. One pilot and his son apparently made a snowman out of the hail. Must say it completely passed us by. Was cold, camping on Saturday night though...even though I had an air matress, duvet and pillows...

I even managed to negotiate a discount at Roserrow, so we decided to go there for a nice lunch in the golf club on Saturday. :D

There's no room to live in the plane.

Mind you, there's no room in the house having taken all that stuff in last night. :?
