Where have you been? What have you seen?
This is Kiruna, most northerly city in Sweden. The Arctic Circle is many miles to the South, as are both Anchorage and Iceland. But the weather this weekend was absolutely gorgeous.
The landscape here is completely stunning. I'll publish more when time allows.
Perhaps strangest of all is the knowledge that Helsinki, (where I am now), is a full day's flying away - to the South! Wellesbourne in England seems like a distant speck, almost unimaginably far off, and I've got to get back there somehow!
I drove from there over to the Lofoten Islands in Norway for midsummer a few years ago - blimey, I think it was 2001. Stunning scenery. On the Norwegian coast that is, not the coal heaps of Kiruna. I bought a CD in Kiruna for the trip. The town centre reminded me of Merthyr Tydfil.
There's not even a nIce hotel in Merthyr!

If you go to Kiruna, make sure you have the latest map. The town itself is being moved a couple of miles. The reason is that the underground mines are extending under the city itself.
Another fun fact is that you need Night Qualification to fly in the winter since the sun never rises.
I have been once in both Merthyr Tydfil and Kiruna, but from what I remember there were quite a few more drunken asbos in the Merthyr....
Everyone can make mistakes. Yesterday, for instance, I thought I was wrong, but I wasn't.
