Government planning policy is being amended in a way that will force local authorities to approve applications to build houses on our airfields. We are indebted to John Broad for spotting this and raising the alarm.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (OPDM) has recently revised the Planning Policy Guidelines 3 (PPG3), issuing Planning Policy Statement 3 (PPS3) and including a small change that directly affects us as aviators. The definition of

To my way of thinking emails are a waste of time - they can be easily deleted or claimed that they were never received.
A good old fashioned letter sent recorded delivery is my preferred choice - just a thought.

But that requires time to get to write, get to post office etc. Not all of us can do that quickly.

Have had automatic response from MPs site sending me a copy of my email. So is proof that it got there!

The timing and implications of this for NW should be considered at some point.

There is a legitimate argument that airfields should have a development policy, but it should relate to hi tech industrial and leisure related job creation not housing.

It seems that if ODPM have their way we'll have gridlock from Cambridge to Newbury via London! Meantime in Prescott's constituency they're demolishing perfectly good houses, 'cos everyone's moved away and no-one wants them he'll be MP for a rotten borough at this rate
