What was the best music decade?

Much as I quite like a lot of modern music when I feel an urge to buy some thing for download (I have definitely embraced the music on demand era) I seem to be buying stuff from the 60s/70s and particularly rocky type music - white rabbit jefferson airplane (should this now be in aviation) was my last purchase (much to Mrs s771's distress).

I seem hardly ever to buy anything from the 80's and 90's - where they just carp or is it just my recollection.

Don't know if it is just me reminscing over my misspent yoof/early adulthood

it is very difficult to choose between the 1820s, 1850s, 1870s and 1910s, but I think the most exciting in history must be the 1820s.

1960s and '70s. We were down in Bournemouth this week with younger daughter (20 years old). On her car radio was mostly a 'gold' station playing stuff from this era - and it wasn't for our benefit!

I don't remember the stuff I played in my first car being stuff from my parents' youth (1930s / '40s)!

The thing about the 1910s is that there are huge developments in all fields - the start of modern art music (Stravinsky and that lot), Jazz and "Pop" music.

I do remember stuff from my parents' youth...Glen Miller, Piaf and The King...marvellous stuff.

Has to be the (19)70's for sheer diversity over the decade.

Rockabilly/rock and roll still around in the beginning. Glam rock, bowie, t rex, roxy music, prog rock, punk, wombles/wurzels/monkees etc, disco, soul, motown, r&b, abba, crooners (aznavour, roussos et al), musicals (grease, saturday night fever), ex-beatles, early blondie/police/adam and the ants etc.

I love the early 80's music too, late 80's more variable, but 70's had something (great) for everyone.
