It may not be immediately obvious that the HSI/ILS can be resized by pinching. Also, to enable glideslope, you need to go into Setup/Navigation Options.

The ILS function is very nifty if used with caution. My fear is that it will be used by some without enough caution. I guess the same can be said for any tool.

Great to see airfield plates etc. on the iPad version today at Sywell... (accessible via an extra tab on the right for those who haven't seen in - and "context" aware in as much as those relevant to the planned flight are presented). Looking forward to the next release! :-)

OK: I've downloaded Skydemon 30 day trial onto my laptop and I'm pretty impressed: it's even got Knettishall on it.

I've downloaded skydemon lite onto iPad but less impressed as I want to fiddle and the lite version doesn't have Knettishall on it.

So: how the f**k do I buy the full fat version for my iPad and laptop? I don't want 30 days trial as I don't want it conking out after 30 minutes in the air as I want to use it in anger in six days time.

Am I being obtuse: can someone tell me in words of one syllable how can I purchase a full fat version of SkyDemon?

TIA

I love Pete's posts. They are so refreshingly computer illiterate. I am not alone out here...

I have just spent most of the evening not subscribing to SkyDemon, Afpex, EAD and eurofpl.

At every step something is rejected:

I think I've just bought SkyDemon only to find Knettishall is not on the iPad version which is one of the main reasons for getting the sodding sub.(It's on the PC version).

I have seriously had enough for one night and might even try to contact the SkyDemon team next week:

I may be computer illiterate but for that price someone should be able to help me!

I don't even know if I've got the full fat version or it will crash after 30 mins in the air.

I'm going to bed..............

I'm a bit puzzled, Pete. Knettishall doesn't show up on my PC or iPad!

Pete,

I think your lack of response comes from the entire company being on the stand at Expo. Knettishall isn't on the database but is really easy to have it added. You only need one sub for all devices and once you put your login code into each of them you are good to go. I expect they will be back in the office on Monday, unless you are gong to Syewell of course.

Thanks to Tim and team for responding to my (unfounded) worries.

I'm loving Skydemon: Just feel a little unsettled about the W & B page where moments are in inches but weights in Kgs.

I'm used to dealing with pounds for these calcs: Is there any way units for W & B can be changed to lbs?

Edit :found it.

I think that SD is one of the top three things to happen to light aviation in the last few years (the other two are UL91 and the IMC NPA).

Every time I use it I am flabbergasted at how it turns what used to be a couple of hours work into a few seconds.

However, there is one thing that seems so wrong that I can only assume that I am getting it wrong, there must be a setting wrong.

As mine is set up:
  1. I get NOTAMs for the 48 hours after the departure time. That cannot be right as no-one would rely on 48 hour old NOTAM information. Is this a setting I have put in inadvertently?
  2. If I want to change the filter I have to (very) laboriously tap backwards, one tap per 15 minutes, so 46 hours (ie, now +2 hours) takes no fewer than 184 taps. If I leave either the VFR or IFR switch on, each tap can take a few seconds and if I do it too quickly, it hangs up; I have found that the only trick is to turn both switches off and then do the 184 key presses.

I am quite sure that I am doing something wrong. Surely there must be a way to set the default validity filter to, say, 4 hours? And there must be a way of setting the datetimes without having to press so many times.

Please someone tell me that there is an easy trick to this...

I can't replicate your problem, Timothy. If I don't set a departure time then filtering the NOTAMS shows a 48 hour "effective between" period which I can easily alter by changing the day or time required. If I set a departure time then the "effective between" option is greyed out and only shows NOTAMS for 30 minutes before departure to about 90 minutes or so after the expected arrival time.

I agree!

I dont have same prob with NOTAMs unless I am misunderstanding... I always set flight departure date/time and the NOTAM are relevant, unless I am missing something?
