My son is directing an opera that day, which is huge (the first and possibly only time he will do so; he is an opera singer, not director), and was in my diary first, but I am still going to PP, which demonstrates, I think, how important I think it is.
Seconded. In the past I've moved holidays, had the aircraft serviced early and even rented a plane, just to ensure I can do my bit for these guys. As Timothy say, it is a real privilige to be in a position to supprt these guys.

Yes it is and if I possibly could be there then I would be. But I am organising and presiding over a dinner at Harrogate with some 50 attendees that evening and I cannot see how I can extract myself without letting all those people down. It's been on the 2nd weekend in June for the past decade!
I am a fairly new PPL so not sure if they will want to use me!!
Oh yes they will. It is the most wonderful day and giving up one day of your own time to fly these great ladies and gentlemen is a very small thank you for all they did for us. If it were not for them none of us might be here. I probably won't be able to fly but I'll be on the ground helping. So will Bryn and Dilys and, no doubt Chief PP Dog, Jasper.

I own a share of a PA28-140 tho!!
Mark
Don't worry about that Mark, I did the Old Warden one only 5 months after re-validating and with only about 60 hours in my log-book.
Doing 4 flights in a day, fitting in with an arrival slot and the pressure of flying with an ex-Canberra CFI in the RHS makes for a very tiring but ultimately satisfying day
I can imagine the difficulties of finding an airport for this event, so without criticising the past couple of years, I have to say I am delighted this year it's not limitied to a very short runway.

...Or an airfield with a terrific runway that, on the day, just happens to be occupied by the Volkswagen Owners Club annual rally.
Took part in PP2010 at East Kirkby - first attempt! That was on my wife's birthday June 26th - got a bit of incoming for that! Couldn't make it last year and won't be free this year sorry to say.
Very worthwhile event - the holding point gaggle on departure was enjoyed by pilots and vets alike!
Plus one, with some practical caveats. I have only managed E Kirkby previously, with a late arrival due to some interesting events en route, but was delighted to be able to assist honour some very special people.
