Iberian Idyll - January Edition

Postby bravo180 » Mon Dec 10, 2012 5:18 pm

When Alistair and I wrote the article about our trip for the January edition of Flyer magazine, we included the following two tables that we thought might prove useful to other pilots. Limitations on space available meant that they were not included with the magazine article so have posted details here instead! :)

Apologies but couldn't work out how to have a nice spaced columns so have had to resort to amounts seperated by commas!

Airfield Fuel cost(€/litre), Landing & parking fee (€), Handling fee(€), Hotel cost(€)
La Rochelle 1.75, 20.43, -, 131
Asturias 2.19, 20.06, -, -
Vigo 2.21, 21.75, -, 95
Cascais 2.29, 24.60, -, -
Jerez 2.21, 21.75, 143, 94
Almeria 2.18, 20.06, -, -
Son Bonet 2.40, 7.56, -, 119
Limoges 1.75, 7.18, -, -
Figures correct as at July 2012

Hints & Tips
- Obtain PPR for each airfield and ensure you have a reference number or name to hand in case it is needed. We found e-mails to airport operations to be most effective, receiving timely responses and clearances
- Research airfields and alternates to ensure they have suitable fuel available, whether it can be paid for by credit card and that you understand the handling requirements
- Take some cash as a back up
- Have a VAT number otherwise fuel purchases in Spain and Portugal will be impossible

Hope this is of some use and can be deciphered!

You should check out the forum "ATIS - INC FUEL PRICE LEAGUE TABLES". (No, I'm not shouting. The name of the forum is in all caps.) There is a sticky thread for fuel prices, and if you feel like sharing more practical info about each airfield, there are threads for that. SteveH maintains threads that include links to each of the individual airfield threads, grouped by country.

Everyone can make mistakes. Yesterday, for instance, I thought I was wrong, but I wasn't.
