Sergio Leone trail in Spain

Postby dppintr » Sun Dec 02, 2012 10:09 am

As an amateur pilot without an instrument rating, I make most of my flying hours to the slightly further destinations in July and August. The risk to become grounded for a longer period because of weather in our northern regions is then small, and of course it is also summer holiday. In November 2012 I flew by airline to Madrid, where I rented an airplane for a week to fly in Spain. As a Sergio Leone westerns fan, I also took the opportunity to fly over landscapes that were used as film locations for movies such as For a few dollars more, The good, the bad and the ugly and of course Once upon a time in the west. My wife joined later in the week, and then we also made a trip over the Castile and Leon region to the north of Madrid. Further there is an interesting aviation museum near Madrid that we also visited, and is included in the trip report.

Dankjewel, en het is leuk om te maken. Thanks, and it is nice to make the pages. For the tips: I can confirm what was said in the Iberian Idyll post about a VAT number that is asked for for fueling. So have your/your-plane-owner's VAT number available. I was told that there can be a heavy penalty for not wearing a safety vest on the apron. There is no flight information service in spain for VFR traffic. Once out of reach of an airport the radio became very quiet. Further I think VFR flying is pretty much the same as elsewhere in (western) Europe. Will you make a post about your planned trip?

Regards
