Strip Flying around the South of England.

Postby Aerotech Flyer » Fri Sep 21, 2012 11:24 am

Apologies for a link to my photos, but it will save so much repetition.
Just back last night from a couple of days flying around some lovely strips in the Maule along with Ian in his C180 (Grumpy Old Pilot for those who remember him on here).
With the price of fuel, at least strip flying lets you get plenty of landings and enjoyment in without having to go too far!
Hope you enjoy the pics: http://goo.gl/k3dLD
Cheers

What a great expedition. Easy 'local' flying, but several new worlds en route, I bet. Marvellous.

And tempting. How much are those Carbon Cubs, again...? ;)

Fantastic pictures, I absolutely love strip flying, you seem to have visted some gems of the south west.

Looks a lot of fun! Makes me wish I still owned the Jodel, and that I'd been in Devon rather than flying home from America.

The common unit of measurement is called the "Maule", and the answer is about 10 Maules!

It seems very apt for a 180 flown by a Heavy Kiwi!

AF 'Mauled' me on the way to Coventry once. Quite outstanding. Especially in the 'hover'.

Ten times? Maybe five.

But I do like the look of those new Carbon Cubs better. I saw the Irish demo-er at Sywell the other week. Quite smitten.

Yes, being down there brought back many happy memories of that fabulous Flyer Forum strip trip to Devon back in 2007. Yes over 5 years ago ! Along with Keef, Adrian, GOP, Dave Berger, FD Frank, Jane et al.

I think we were paying around 89p/litre for Avgas back then and moaning about it!!

I saw the Carbon Cub at Sywell too, a real Cub on steroids! I know Frank was smitten with it as well, especially as he is now Cub sized !
Maybe Adrian, Steven and Frank should get one as a group between them! Based between, Glos, Dav, Lyon and Wisconsin !

Cheers

Sorry to have missed you...yet again :(

Glad you and Stu finally got to meet properly.
Imagine what you might try if you thought you could not fail...

Great photos and what looks like a cracking couple of days flying! How I'd love to own a Cub!

Oh, very pleasant indeed. :thumleft:

It's time I re-visited many of those strips too. Especially Bolt Head -love it. Good to hear of GOP again; I've spotted that strip a couple of times but not twigged that it's where he hangs out.
