Flight to Oshkosh 2012

Postby G-BLEW » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:04 am

Oshkosh has become a bit of a regular pilgrimage, and this year seemed like a good time to get there under our own steam.

So sometime on Sunday or Monday three aircraft (Baron, TB20 and C182) will leave Southern England for KOSH via Iceland, Greenland and Canada. Between the three aircraft and six pilots there's been a fair bit of work done getting ready for the trip (insurance, visas, medicals, licenses etc. etc.), and even today, a couple of days before departure there are still a few lose ends to get sorted.

We'll update this thread as we go with pics, comments, maps and if we can get it working properly a SPOT tracker page.

For now, the only picture is from last night's work on the remaining ToDo list.

If I can remember how to make this work, this should be the URL for the SPOT tracker, it may well show my drive to work today though:-)

The ferry tanks got fitted eventually, then! ;)

It goes without saying hat envy takes a second place to wishing you a safe and enjoyable trip, in both directions. Marvellous. :D

You should try and find some kind of GA magazine willing to publish details of the adventure - and when you do, don't forget to describe the prep.

A few teething problems with the SPOT CONNECT (to be fair it is probably a meatware issue) - hope to have the tracking up and running in time. More tests required…

Bon voyage Ian & crew; I'm most jealous!

I will be going by SLF...so see you there. Do you have an anticipated arrival day/time, or are you going with the vagaries of the Atlantic weather? More importantly, is Adrian offering drinks upon arrival?

It's a great flight - Enjoy.

See you there - Flyer lanyard akimbo (and I'll be wearing my battered old Aussie hat so it'll be even easier to recognise me!)
Signed: EGHHZXAC - Life's tough if you don't weaken.
