Re: West Yellowstone, MT. - Day 2.Stunning! Thanks for posting even if it does make me jealous
Re: West Yellowstone, MT. - Day 2.Definitely looking forward to the next installment as ever ...
Iceman You are still dangerous! You can be my wingman anytime.
Thanks Chris, a great trip report that I only just got round to reading . Some really stunning landscapes from the air, so different from the UK.
Our Deanland ALG fly-in is 8th June 2013 Fly-Ins and Social Events for more info
Stunning photos, Interesting StoryI read your great story concerning the trip to West Yellowstone Airport. The photos look like they were shot on a large format camera, the clarity and resolution was stunning.
I traveled to and stayed in the same campground and what a wonderful experience that was. I had earlier in the day left Nampa, Idaho (on a Saturday and the place was a ZOO...) I was very happy to have flight-following getting out of there on route to Blackfoot, Idaho then on to West Yellowstone... Here is my story on my Flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/southwestusa/4935754172/ The shower was a hoot. Odd looking contraption, but a welcome fixture out there in the forest.
Re: West Yellowstone, MT. - Day 2.Yellowstone has now been added to my destination list for my flying holiday around the NW this September. Thanks for the report!
Cessnas have feelings too!
I camped at the Pilot's Campground in August 2010 and had a lightweight sleeping bag and nearly froze. The temps got down to 30... Bring a heavier bag if you make the trip in September and camp there... I didn't have the luxury to loiter in the area due to small tanks in a Cessna 150/150 having a larger engine, but the views on my way from West Yellowstone to Cody, Wyoming were incredible... Good luck on your September trip. I don't have files loaded on my computer to attach here, but the geysers are a "must see" from an airplane. http://www.flickr.com/photos/southwestusa/4935758743/
