Where have you been? What have you seen?
I think it's a good idea too. It's the same as carrying a torch when night flying, you hope you don't have to fall back on it, but if you end up with a total electrical failure, then you are very glad you have it there!
I usually take a battery powered Garmin up with me in the Malibu (along with an ICOM) as the last thing you want on a grotty day up high is no back up. The idea of doing a let down through cloud completely on DR after an electrical failure is not worth the hassle for a few hundred quid of plan B .
Also, the two Garmin 530s are great for airways, but they suck as a good situational awareness moving map compared to a Garmin 295 or 496.

Kettle, tea/coffee/milk/ biccies now available at Knettishall....
A quick phone call/PM is all it takes.
Anybody got a spare ferret they could fly in to us? We have developed a severe rabbit problem over the winter.
Good to welcome aileron (Martin), Alison and Molly into Knettishall today: Sorry it took four pubs before we could find one that was open for lunch (booked pub was closed: work that out)/took dogs, but it worked out in the end.
Hope trip back to Liverpool was uneventful.
Primum non nocere..
