What are you planning? Where shall we go?

On Sunday 4th August there will be another opportunity to visit the great little WWII Control Tower Museum at Seething Airfield.

Like many airfields in the area, Seething was built to accommodate B24 Liberators of the US 8th Air Force and this year commemorates its 70th anniversary. The Seething 70th Anniversary Fly In gives visitors the opportunity to visit the splendid Control Tower Museum. All landing donations will go to the Control Tower Museum funds.

As well as the opportunity to visit the control tower museum which will be open all day a quiz or two will be laid on by 221 Sqn Air Cadets. I have been told the Cadets will be awarding a special prize of one year's subscription to FLYER Magazine to the 'Coolest' aircraft (sorry, a definition was not provided!) of the day.

The control tower of this former US WWII Airbase, RAF Seething, has been fully restored and is run as a museum by volunteers. As Station 146 the airfield was home to the 448th Bomb Group a part of the 2nd Air Division of the 8th American Air Force which flew B24 Liberators from the airfield. The Museum provides an insight to the life of the airfield and is a memorial to those who flew from the base during the conflict.
