What are you planning? Where shall we go?
This sounds a little promising!
Half Price Landing Fee, Half Price Meal Voucher, Free hot mince pie and spiced Chai Latte, live music and a present under the christmas tree
Ok, booked in Ridders in the Commander. Slot time of 1005 to 1050 - even I can manage that sort of timing from Blackbushe
Seats available from the Bushe if anyone wants to come along.
So fully booked now... !
Thanks very much to the guys who arranged this at Shoreham! I went down there with Iceman (and came back). It's great that things like this get organised, and it was great to meet everyone today. The restaurant with the live music (full brass band!) was heaving, so it was nice that they had reserved a room for us where we had free drinks and mince pies all day...and they also brought us our (half price with a voucher!) lunch in the room. The weather put a lot of people off I think, but there was still a reasonable turn out, and a few people came by car (all from Deanland as it happens! Strip was a bit boggy apparently).
Think I'm ok for mince pies for the next week or so...
So thanks again to Shoreham for this, roll on the next one!
I second what Paul says, a very good welcome and organisation from the fly-in organisers, and good to meet Paul and Mark. I can see people would have been put off by the weather as that crosswind landing concentrated the mind. I will go again and hope they have a better turnout.
Regards, Alan in the RV-4
Scarcely the most IFR or wind resilient but made of stern stuff.
Great to see you again Alan. We watched the cross-wind landing which you and the guy in the other tail-dragger made look relatively easy. There was a bit of a cross-wind when I landed, but nothing to write home about. We landed just after a Cirrus driver had left the runway on two consecutive landing attempts whilst ATC and the fire crews looked on in sheer disbelief at the level of ineptitude being displayed. Only goes to reinforce my perception of a number of Cirrus drivers as having a lot more money than flying ability - accidents waiting to happen
