The summer flying season is almost over and the clocks will go back in 3 weeks' time - it must be time for the return of PFIA meetings at Shoreham!
Please find notice of the first meeting in this season's calendar:
Wednesday 10th October 2012 - 18.30 for 19:00
Shoreham Airport
Agenda:
1. Aviation Health and Flight Safety Consultant Susan Michaelis
Susan will speak to the PFIA drawing on her breadth of experience as an airline pilot, safety consultant, researcher and film maker.

2. EASA: More Questions than Answers?
We will open the floor to questions/discussion on the new EASA flight crew licensing regulations which came into force on September 17th 2012. Although information is hard to come by at the moment, with the UK CAA busily handling the transition, it is envisaged that discussion will be useful to provide background for Dorothy Pooley, Chair of PFIA, when she attends the CAA instructor standardisation meeting in late October. The PFIA will then aim to provide any answers received on the members' questions direct from the CAA, later in the year.
There will be refreshments as usual. If you would like to attend please reply to enquiries@theflyinginstructor.com stating your full name and, if issued, your PFIA membership number.
Although intended for flying instructors and examiners from anywhere in the UK primarily, all are welcome. The second half of the evening on this occasion is however for questions from instructors and examiners rather than from PPL holders.
A small charge is made to cover the cost of refreshments and the speaker. Members £2.50, non-members £5.00
Coming up over the winter are talks from:
Tim Atkinson, AAIB - 8th November
Matthew Day, Haywards Insurance - 5th December
An ILAFFT evening - 10th January
with a couple more speakers to be confirmed.
