Thanks Dave.

In twenty years that was probably one of the best Shuttleworths, if not air displays in general, I have ever been at. To see the Alabtros, RE.8, SE.5a and F.2b together was amazing. Still sorting the photos. Fine display too by Ian Smith in the BBMF PR19 and Peter Teichman in the P-51D.

Unfortunately the Comet will not fly on 7 Oct, now says so on the Shuttleworth web site. It was always an 'aspiration'. And I am not sure if the RE.8 will fly then either. Gene DeMarco is the only person who can fly it at the moment and he will not be around in October. Not sure if anything else will be sorted.

I made it back safely and had a great flight back this morning. The airshow was great and infinitely more interesting than one full of modern loud jets.

Unfortunately I won't be around for the next airshow so I now I'll have to wait till next year. I will definitely stay at the Aviator Hotel again.

Now I only if I could find a cheap secondhand Lysander for sale!

Totally endorse Dave W's comments and thanks for the day on Saturday. Fantastic to see the aircraft in the paddock with inquisitive and respectful crowds. Due positioning through Waltham before Lydd had to leave just before display, but fortunate to see most aircraft getting air/practising at lunchtime. The atmosphere at OW is unique and I shall be joining SVAS. After a mere 51 year break since designing futuristic aircraft at the back of class at Hart Hill Junior School it was a pleasure to become re-acquainted with vATCO. Nice to see you again Steve!

It was the second time at Old Warden for me and this time we where presented with one of the better airshows I have seen. The combination of open hangar doors to the museum and the number of airplanes and other vintage machinery placed amongst the visitors (made me nervous at times) created a fantastic atmosphere. I wish all museums could be like Shuttleworth. My less aviation interested girlfriend also enjoyed the day, being able to visit the lovely Swiss Garden.

I wish we could have stayed longer than 17.30, but I'll be back next year for more.

I too congratulate everyone involved at OW for an excellent day. It was probably the best aviation event I've attended in my 43 years of flying. Well done. Outstanding.

I did, very much. Thanks for pointing it out.

Incidentally (and I accept it's like asking for a jingle after you've heard a symphony), I don't suppose you know of anywhere on the web that has posted airborne pics of the GA visitors, do you?

No, sorry, they tend to be pics of the display items. You should have said beforehand . . . :) although I think I was a tad busy when you arrived.

They would have been taken with a Canon 1D Mk III with an EF 100-400 lens and a Canon 50D with a EF 70-200 f2.8L. There are far better pics than mine on the various avaition sites.

That's as maybe, but I'd have been very pleased with myself had I taken yours.
