So, 9th Nov, Sun In The Wood pub it is then. I'll book a table.

Can people post nearer the time as to what their probabilities are for being there? If I'm really nice to Mrs M for a day or two beforehand, she might be happy to drive any locals home if they fancy a sherry or three.

Thanks all.

Jono.

Hi Mono, Forgot to look in here - my fault. Unfortunately I shall probably on my way to Melbourne airport for my return flight. Hope you have a good meal. Been a while since I've been to the Sun in the wood, but previous meals there have been good.

Hmmm! Now a trifle in doubt. If still tommed down in bandages and plaster, methinks it'll be overly difficult and Memsahib might protest - so.... PROB10 - I was looking forward to it as well. Blast!!!

I like the Sun in the Woods. It used to be a "leaving do" or "project do" pub for us. It's a bit awkward to find if you don't know where it is though, but not difficult as such. It's not far from Vodafone's Pear Tree House! :D There was some reason I was supposed to go there but I can't remember what now. I might have to see if I can wangle some work in Newbury that day so I can be down there ready (and claim the mileage on expenses... ;) ).

I was also going to suggest doing a Newbury-ish bash, before I read this thread, so go to the Raja Indian restaurant in Headley.

http://www.raja-headley.co.uk/

It's on the A339 between Newbury and Basingstoke, though nearer the Newbury end. They do a nice chilli chicken (though it's a bit hot!).

Perhaps next time.

No, I was owed money for some fresh produce I delivered and they hadn't paid for some time (91 days and with reminders). So, I worked out what I was owed, went in to eat food and drink to that value, and then left without paying, which didnt go down too well. It was some time ago now (a few years) and I'm sure they've forgotten.

Curious, since it wouldn't have cost them what the retail cost of the meal was, this sounded like a good deal for them!

Isn't it under new ownership now?

Paul (and others),

I really really hate to say this but there is no way I'm going to be able to.

In a word, I'm a bit scuppered at the moment. We are 30% through the work we should have completed by the middle of October and I need to be around 24/7 for the next week or two. I'd never have guessed we'd be so far behind but this weather has really screwed me up this Summer/Autumn.

Let me know how it goes if you meet up.

As I said, I'm sorry, and would very much like to do it a month or two down the line when I'm not so cornered.

Is everyone else still going?

This event is suffering from severe lack of management. *sigh* MEN!
