You have quite a few for the 9th if u change now to fit in other people you tend to lose the ones you had. The 9th still does it for me.

I suspect a pub is probably a better bet (choice of food rather than one specific type). Go for somewhere that we can all sit round a pre-booked large table though, to avoid it getting too fragmented.

Not sure why Tuesday is being mentioned... it's a Friday...

But anyway, how about The Sun in the Wood.
GPG recommended, not too pricey, right side of town...

Hi Mono, Forgot to look in here - my fault. Unfortunately I shall probably on my way to Melbourne airport for my return flight. Hope you have a good meal. Been a while since I've been to the Sun in the wood, but previous meals there have been good.

Hmmm! Now a trifle in doubt. If still tommed down in bandages and plaster, methinks it'll be overly difficult and Memsahib might protest - so.... PROB10 - I was looking forward to it as well. Blast!!!

I like the Sun in the Woods. It used to be a "leaving do" or "project do" pub for us. It's a bit awkward to find if you don't know where it is though, but not difficult as such. It's not far from Vodafone's Pear Tree House! :D There was some reason I was supposed to go there but I can't remember what now. I might have to see if I can wangle some work in Newbury that day so I can be down there ready (and claim the mileage on expenses... ;) ).

I was also going to suggest doing a Newbury-ish bash, before I read this thread, so go to the Raja Indian restaurant in Headley.

http://www.raja-headley.co.uk/

It's on the A339 between Newbury and Basingstoke, though nearer the Newbury end. They do a nice chilli chicken (though it's a bit hot!).

Perhaps next time.

So, I worked out what I was owed, went in to eat food and drink to that value, and then left without paying, which didn't go down too well. It was some time ago now (a few years) and I'm sure they've forgotten.

Curious, since it wouldn't have cost them what the retail cost of the meal was, this sounded like a good deal for them!

Isn't it under new ownership now?
