I am sure they are all on the guest list for this fly in, so if you do see them in circuit please do us all favour, make sure YOU avoid them. Fly Safely
Quite bizarre that I only overflew it earlier today and was discussing with EdwardG the memorable event whereby we didn't make it last year. Unfortunately, I won't make it this year either as I'm at Glenforsa that weekend. One of these years Iceman

Well done Daryl for organising an excellent fly in today! The ground handling was first class and the event as safe as could be. Pilots seemed to be flying well formed circuits, actively looking out and making appropriate position reports. I estimated some 100 aircraft parked up at lunchtime, many of which I couldn't name, and good interest from locals and pilots walking around. I was pleased to grab the last burger at lunch, and see the woeful sponge cake I baked being sold off and eaten(!) Let's hope the day finishes well and the weekend can be repeated next year. Thanks.

absolutely - a great day, resulting in everybody behaving very well, very happy and useful helpers on the ground and excellent turnout, really appreciate the opportunity the visit as well as people's contribution to making this happen, especially Daryl of course. I really hope they've managed to raise a good pot of money out of it.

Thanks to Daryl and EVERYONE else who made Thorney Island Fly-In a fantastic day!
I managed to do 3 sorties, taking up 6 locals in my PA28. I thouroughly enjoyed myself and it was a privilege to land and get Thorney Island in my logbook.
Although very busy, RT procedures were very precise and brief, with all aircraft keeping a good lookout, flying strict circuits and letting everyone know where they were.
Thanks to Chris from Popham for is sterling work down on the threshold of 01, making sure arriving and departing separation was kept.
A BLOODY FANTASTIC fly-in! - Hopefully I'll be returning next year for this good cause!

Really great event with a huge variety of aircraft parked up. The "taxi" service to/from the hangar was interesting to say the least -a horse box! Very friendly ground crew. Very busy when we were there with 4 ahead on the circuit, but everyone seemed to be following procedures. Hope they raised lots of money - people did seem to be being generous. One of my contributions was buying the last pot of Thorney Island honey. I understand Sunday's flyin is cancelled due to the bad weather. Thanks to all who helped make this happen.

I've just had my toast with Thorney Island honey for breakfast just now It was a very enjoyable day out and included my first ever trip in a horse-box. I flew the return leg back to Fairoaks, with a slight detour around the Isle of Wight. Spotted the paddle steamer Waverley as she sailed down the Solent and couldn't resist an orbit overhead: an unexpected bonus to add to an already excellent day's flying! Again, thanks to those who made it happen.
