Sat Aug 18th - how about a "Goodbye R112" fly-in??

What are you planning? Where shall we go?

My thoughts were to try one on each side before clocks go back, so that was north. I think Redhill and W-Waltham were sticking their heads above the parapet as South and west, any suggestions for east?? (obviously needs their ok). My original criteria as well as r112 position include grass runway and Saturdays to get the padre along.

Memories are short.

Surely, any time after the end of R112 longer than the actual duration of R112 will just prolong a memory some might prefer to forget?

Did you even think of R112 on Saturday? I don't think I did, I just had a good time and made sure we didn't go too far north into Luton CTR, too high to go into the LTMA, too far east to hit the Stansted CTA and too far south to hit P114, and on arrival what a pleasant place Panshanger was (I simply wouldn't have been there without this excuse) and how nice to have a relaxing lunch.
Most pilots I know don't want somewhere to go every weekend, they are poor, time poor, or both, but given some 'target' every 3 or 4 weeks, will make an effort. My last 'fun flight' was Leicester, (a forum organised fly-in), the one before that was meant to be the Cherbourg one that got cancelled (forum organised), and I doubt there was one before that this year.

Any excuse will do for a fly-in. Just like any excuse will do for a curry.

Early to mid September, a bit outside the M25, with some grass, will do.

I think there's merit in something like Lefty's regular fly-outs but in the opposite direction.

I'd never flown to Leicester before either, so that's two new places in two months because there was a 'target'

Yes please! That'll do nicely.

If Irv and Keef can successfully collude on the WX front then I'll be there.
