Duxford Bonus Day Sunday 8th July 2012. Calling all Beagles (Pups and 'Dogs), Miles aircraft of all types and Austers
If you fly any of these aircraft, (or even just like being around exciting aircraft) come to Duxford on 8th July, meet your friends and get Bonus Day Discounts. Jeremy Miles will be there are will give an informal presentation/chat during the day.
Duxford is home the Imperial War Museum and must be the premier destination for GA pilots in Europe. Most weekends through the flying season, although there are no guarantees, you are quite likely to see warbirds flying – Spitfire, Hurricane, Mustang, B17, Catalina and other rare types are based at Duxford.
The Bonus days offer great discounted prices: all aircraft will enjoy half-price landing fees and much reduced museum admission. Single or twin can land for £7; museum entry is £7 for most adults and children come in free. If you only want a short visit to the museum, come in FREE for up to two hours (but I think you'll want to stay). There will also be a couple of free, behind-the-scenes tours.
Can't make the 8th July? The last Bonus Day event for 2012 -- for all types of aircraft:
The AOPA Bonus Day on 23rd September - for AOPA members and all interested in AOPA.
As well as Bonus Days, Duxford welcomes FLY-INs. Call the tower for discount details. AND If you would like to base your aircraft at Duxford, there are a few tie-downs available just now. Call the tower.
Further information about the Bonus Days and information for fly-in visitors can be found on the web site :
http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford/flying
then click on the link to Bonus Days (also airfield information link).
For this Bonus Day, also see the LAA web site.
The airfield team will be delighted to hear from forumites (call for PPR, briefing and broad slot time 01223 833376) and to see you on the day - call asap as the popular slot times get booked up in advance.
Alan.

Re: Duxford Bonus Day 8th July 2012 - Beagles, Miles, AusterPaul:
Sorry I missed your post - I was away this weekend for a wedding. Yes, pilots can drive in for Bonus Days and have the £7 discounted museum admission rate. But please call the tower in advance, just as you would do for booking a slot or PPR. For some Bonus Days, we positively encourage drive-in -- the Bonus Safety Day in April and the AOPA Bonus Day on 23rd September this year. Last Sunday was a different Bonus Day. Thanks to the hardy pilots who braved the thunderstorms and downpours and made it to Duxford and also to those who drove in - including the crews from Sherburn and from Sheffield -- a long way to drive, but hopefully for a good day. The atmosphere was more relaxed and slower-paced. Some people popped up to the tower and we were able to offer tea and biscuits in the briefing room. So, not the usual 50-150 aircraft, but a friendly and enjoyable day out. Now, I have to write a post about the Olympics.................... Alan.
