Once again Sir David Attenborough has produced a piece of television so magical that it is worth the license fee on its own.

Unmissable.

I missed it.

Mrs SC prefers to avoid programs with 'dramatised animal in peril' type segments put in for 'reality' or 'excitement' - i.e. watching a killer whale hunting down and eating other baby whales.

How much of that sort of stuff was in it?

There was a young leopard stalking a Steinbok but he blew it. No kills were broadcast, that I remember.

There was an incredible giraffe fight, but again no animals were killed.

Some sensational photography, but I do find that this type of series are becoming more "lets just put the best bit of film in that we have" than "lets tell a story". They do incredibly well with the former, but unlike how I remember Life on Earth etc, there is less cohesion to what is shown.

There is a lovely audio slideshow about the series at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-20811945

Snap! Mrs Chevv is just the same, gets really wound up if an animal looks like coming to any harm and won't even contemplate watching them.
What's an iPad? Do I really care?
