We have already passed New Year, with African Drummers and a lovely barbecue out in the sultry, hot night.
So I wish you all the best for the new year; from the little I have seen of it, it seems very pleasant indeed.

HNY from Canada. We've got 5.5 hours to go and it's about -7'C. I have dinner booked at a nice place up the road, and will see in 2013 with a glass of whatever I can scrounge from the staff at the bar-less hotel.

Shouldn't you be prepared and get some bottles in (and opened if appropriate) beforehand?
Might be a little late now!
HNY from Wales by the way.

I discovered the hotel has a small selection tucked away. Acquired myself a Grand Marnier...on the house. However, I'm drinking with only CNN, Flyer and FB for company... Happy New Year, me!

I would offer to stay and chat but it's rather late here and I have to go out for lunch tomorrow to some friends of the family (eating again! Bleargh! ). HNY!

One has to ask, AB, what are you doing on your tod in a barless hotel in cold Canada? You never struck me as the ascetic type.

Happy New Year from tropical Bali. A mere 35C here with some incredible tropical TS/CBs to cool things down each day. Cocktail party on the beach and the most awesome, prolonged fireworks display that I'd ever seen for NYE. 8 hours ahead of UK time. It's interesting here how Iceman's cool (literally) shades go instant IMC when walking out of the air-conditioned room into the 100% humidity ! Routed out via a few days in Hong Kong. Some cocktails on the 118th (top floor) bar in the ICC building went down well, the highest bar and indoor pool in the world, and affording some spectacular views of the whole of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Iceman

Mainly Safari, but also visiting some charity projects.
Our safari drives have been spectacular, seeing multiple kills by wild dogs, being full-on charged by an elephant, uncountable leopards and lions and much, much more.
I cannot recommend the experience highly enough.
