I don't think asking people not to post unexplained links makes the forum as dull as ditchwater or drives people away. Bit of hyperbole there?
You've missed the point completely.
On this occasion, I wasn't commenting on the rule itself (although I do think it ridiculous as well). I was commenting that your comparison of gregg's post with spam and trolling was totally unfounded. The hyperbole on this occasion is coming from you.
My comment about this forum becoming dull was not hyperbole. In the last six months or so it has become incredibly tedious. Example: we actually have a thread at the moment that amounts to "OMG - look at my post count!"

No more tedious than someone complaining about the forum!

No idea, sorry.
Whilst we meander off topic which isn't a bad idea since I have just scrubbed today's flying...

It wasn't. The Forum server attributed that to you all on its own. How strange.

In the spirit of the above quote (correctly attributed), I saw this photo. It made me smile.

Strangely enough, after reading the title and seeing a video link, I immediately thought "This must be a video of someone extinguishing a fire in an imaginative manner". Turns out that it was. I'm not sure why the "Every link must have a description" brigade found it so hard to understand this one which seemed perfectly clear.
Cessnas have feelings too!

I has wondered what 'put out fire like a boss' meant but concluded it was a transliteration of an eastern european aphorism which lost something in the translation. Peter

I've never heard it before either. But according to online slang sites, it means: 'like a professional' - or something of the sort.
So, you could fly an aeroplane 'like a boss'. Wouldn't that be nice?

Also, there's a kind of it - where it's called 'like a Sir'. Let me explain:
