Video shows a boat on fire being extinguished by another boat's wake. (Gregg you'll find that posting unexplained links is a banning offence here) Rob P

For future reference I'm disinclined to click on unexplained links, perhaps a spin-off from a healthy aversion to spam. Now what we know what this one is I'm off for a look.

No unexplained links, thank you. Altogether too close to spamming and trolling.

What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. He's an established poster, so clearly not a spammer, and his link doesn't appear to be promoting his own product or web site. And the post doesn't appear to be designed to inflame an argument, so not trolling either. This thread is nothing like spamming or trolling.
No wonder so many previous posters hardly ever contribute any more, and this forum has become as dull as ditchwater.

Maybe so DW, but it is a courtesy to at least provide a line to indicate what the link may be about. Lack of courtesy is another thing that drives people away. ps: what's making the forum as dull as ditchwater for me are the endless bickering threads between fanbois of all persuasions.

David, you don't get the complaints from users: the mods do. The consensus when we introduced that rule several years ago was that many regular forumites object to unexplained links. I don't think asking people not to post unexplained links makes the forum as dull as ditchwater or drives people away. Bit of hyperbole there?

There's this thing, it's called subject - I think more people should be reading it - cos usually it gives a good idea of what the _subject_ is.

Well, it's not an approach plate. Some things should be left out, to allow for a bit of excitement
