Used to have goose and like it, but that was just for three plus leftovers. This year its partridge - one each.

That was a SERIOUS amount of fat Mono!

We have Duck this year, I'm quite looking forward to it.

However - Partridge sounds tempting...

Countryfile is not all bad; dress Ellie H in nothing more than strategically placed bits of tinsel & I'd even watch Songs of Praise.

I work on getting a good portion of meat per kilo of bird. That looks delicious Mono, shame it was a disappointment. I'll bet it tasted good.

Partridge is a nice meat, and one bird, although small, is easily enough per person for normal eaters.

It was enough for three kids of 14, 12 and 6 years of age, which made it even more amusing! I'm still laughing about it now. :D

As with any meat, it's important to get the right variety of the right species and know it has been brought up proper. Goose IS fatty, but a good one will also provide a fair amount of meat. Very tasty it is too.

The fat makes awesome roasties too. :D

We have had goose for years and fed up to 8 before now. We are having goose again tomorrow - I am sorry that Mono had such a bad experience because I am very fond of goose. Don't worry, Flintstone!

I've just finished making the stuffing for the goose - cranberry, chestnut and fig, mixed with sausage meat. Hopefully not too sweet.

From your comments, it sounds like we'll be eating more stuffing than bird!

Oh well, there's a whole gammon to fill in the spaces, and the boys do insist on loads of pigs-in-blankets, so we should be OK! :D

I like to cook enough to see us through to New Year without resorting to shopping!

Just had a quick gander at it and the wrapper suggests it should serve 6-8 with giblets. Doesn't say how much meat we'll get though.

Two gags in one post, I'm on a roll :D

I caught a glimpse of Mr J Oliver dishing up goose on tv approx 30mins ago and I have to say I suddenly felt very hungry! (I have not been hungry today due to a man-cold, which we all know is nowhere near as bad as bird flu).

My money is on AerBabe supplying Mono a quality goose next time. Could be the start of a new Flyer forum service.

Aerbabe has her name on some meat from the pig in the forefront of this picture. He's going to be 100% sausages. The one at the back will be reserved for Sunday joints and bacon.
