I agree, it's not awfully good. However, could it have been done by or a follower of Sir George Frampton, who made the Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens?

My previous research is now found to be wanting, as he did have a daughter who was born in 1900. :oops: The current thinking is that it could well represent Diana, the goddess of hunting. Hornby's eldest daughter was also named Diana, so could have been a representation of both. Perhaps Sir Morley Stephen was right after all :wink:

Most statues of Diana contain some form of weapon (bow, sling, etc), but not all. This one is not dissimilar ...

Strewth - What an exciting life you must lead Pianorak me old chum,
My own research of the two offerings you have so ably illustrated brings me to the conclusion that the statuesque maidens had differening bra sizes - at least close inspection with a magnifyer leads me to think as such. Perhaps I need to do some more research .
... I'll get my bigger magnifyer . :pirat:
