Great day today -
Journey to the airfield - great, clear blue skies, nice crisp-looking frosty fields.
Arrival at airfield - clear blue skies, nice crisp-looking frosty-covered grass.
Refuelled aircrat - interesting-looking clouds due south.
Took off into - nice, clear blue sky ahead, perfect...
Turned onto crosswind leg - no horizon!
Levelled out at 1,000 feet - no propeller!

Shortest lesson ever, and a chance to try and use the artificial horizon!..

Well, a good appreciation of what VFR is all about - i.e. how things can quickly go wrong when all is grey :(

Well I have lessons booked for Thursday and Friday this week, so the South East can expect bad weather to end the week

I was meant to be taking my aircraft the short trip from Biggin to Southend today for maintenance. I have an IR. One look at the weather this morning and I binned the idea.
I know it's a silly username. If you've met me, I probably introduced myself as Josh...

Good choice. It was IMC driving conditions, let alone flying

Another cancellation yesterday. Was tempted to go up anyway but having watched another club member do a quick circuit - and vanish into the cloud! - thought it better to save the dosh for the inevitable cobweb-clearing session early in the new year. Expensive game these cancellations!:(
