Flying Schools Close to Durham/Newcastle

Postby Red Barron » Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:10 pm

I am thinking of doing my PPL.

What do people think?

St Georges
Northumbria Flight School
Durham Tees Flight School

PS I work about 30 minutes drive from Newcastle Airport and live 50 minutes drive from Durham Tees.

PPS Prices all similar but Newcastle landing fees I gather are steep.

Thanks

I am training with St Georges. Very happy so far, though not progressing as quickly as I'd like. Not that the school is to blame, more my work schedule and the weather gods.

Landing fees are priced in to their hourly rate, but I racked up 11 T&Gs when circuit bashing, which bumped the lesson cost up somewhat. It is nice mixing it with the big stuff though. Ground school has all been self study so far.

Can't comment on the other schools mentioned.

Hoping to get some XC in this January.

Cheers. That's useful to know.

Thanks
