Skills test

Postby timcbr » Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:37 pm

Absolutely beaming from ear to ear. Passed my skills tests today, amazing weather, thankyou weather gods. Only weird bit was arriving back at dusk and realising i still had my sunglasses on and it wasnt as dark as I thought. Nice of Limoges to put their lights on though??

I did mine about 7 weeks ago. I wasn't so much beaming as just very relieved - it was pretty stressful with about 8 in the circuit.

Intense 2 and a half hours doesn't describe it at all. The first bit of navigation was relatively simple once I realised I was slightly off course, but the second part with diversion, touch and go's at an airfield I had never visited before including a PFL from overhead really got the old grey matter working.

Congratulations Tim :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

I'm scheduled to do a pre-skill tomorrow, although I think it's doubtful looking at the weather in the South East at the mo, and I'm worrying about that so god knows what I'm going to be like on the real one.

@weirdfish. My instructor kept telling me he wouldn't have put me forward for the test if he didn't think I was capable. My advice would be to trust your instructor! Thanks for your kind comments too.

Cheers, however, I'm fighting a losing battle with the weather to do the Pre Skills test at the moment. With this afternoons planned attempt being deemed a no go, I've had more cancelled flights in the last 3 weeks than the rest of the training put together.

....and I'll apologise for hijacking the thread by saying congrats again. :thumright:

The weather was lovely on Sunday. Just saying. And it could be nice on Thursday this week. If Weatherman is correct, we might have a spell of cold but clear weather at the end of the month, depending on what happens to the high pressure currently over Iceland.

Yeh that hadn't gone unnoticed  Pretty much a perfect day apart from the closest I got to the aircraft was when it flew over my house! :(

@iolanthe, just awaiting all my paperwork gathering (certified copy of passport etc) then I can send off my application to the CAA. Being based in France I have to get my passport certified by a local notaire and getting to one in a timely fashion is somewhat frustrating. I do plan to go and take a local flight but understand I still have to be under my FI's license until I have my actual licence.
Weirdfish you should come over here for your test? It has been still and cavok for 3 weeks now. My FI has done more flying this month than July.

No you don't Timmy, the CFI of Cosmo can stamp and sign off true copies for the CAA. As long as he states that it is a true copy and puts his position and licence number on it.

No passengers till you get your licence.
