CMJ - RIP

Postby Iolanthe » Tue Jan 01, 2013 4:50 pm

For all the cricket and TMS loving flyers here, couldn't let today pass without noting the sad loss of Christopher Martin Jenkins - or better known to us TMS listeners as "CMJ". One of the voices of my childhood ...along with Johnners...on the radio. Although one of the more serious commentators, I always remember CMJ's commentary when a dog pooed on the pitch in the middle of a World Cup Match in the Carribbean - one of the best moments on TMS which I have heard.

RIP CMJ.

There are excellent tributes in all of the papers today, but Mike Selvey's in the the Guardian is particularly moving.

His comments on the terrible nature of late-stage cancer and the relief a heart attack may have been in his piece on Tony Grieg in the Times the other day were in retrospect particularly revealing.
I know it's a silly username. If you've met me, I probably introduced myself as Josh...
