Help pls with Tacho/EFIS installationI'm installing an MGL Xtreme EFIS and RDAC in a Rotax 914 powered a/c and the aim is to retain a stand alone UMA electronic tacho. Previously when the tacho was installed in parallel with a FLYdat all was fine; when connected similarly with the RDAC no RPM indication is seen on either display .... disconnect the UMA and the EFIS/RDAC work as advertised. Has anyone else encountered and resolve something similar? Thanks in advance!
Hi there Doober 2004. I thought I'd answer just to get you off 0. I read your post with interest and complete incomprehension about what you're talking about.
I'm struggling with this - MGLXtremeEFISRDACUMAFLYdatRDACnoRPMUMAEFIS/RDAC. Apart from that it makes perfect sense......................................................not. Word to the wise. Acronym rich posts are infra dig. FL
To help solve this you will need the full manuals on the equipment, with circuit diagrams (schematics) of the input circuitry if possible.
If it is a tacho then probably the transducer sends out pulses, rather than an analog value (voltage or current). Some such transducers have open-collector outputs, with the required pullup resistor in one of the indicating instruments. If you connect additional indicators in parallel then - even if they are compatible at all - their input loading may overcome the pullup.
