I (knowing nothing about what Alderney is made of) would have assumed it would drain away reasonably quickly. This has made me think though, with the soaking grass airfields got over the summer, presumably the usual UK suspects may start closing early this autumn/winter.

Why oh why do they set the bar at 1000kg?!

I have a two seat aeroplane which has a MTOW of 1066kg. If I fly alone, I'm below 1000kg, but I don't suppose that matters.

It's the same with Scotland. I have to pay 50% more than a similar Beagle Pup because my aeroplane will lift more.
