Rügen is an island in the Baltic Sea, connected to the mainland by Germany's longest bridge (or so I heard) at Stralsund. It has long beaches and also historical monuments. Among the latter you'll find a resort for 20,000 guests in a five kilometer long "hotel" built in the late thirties.
The airfield is more or less in the middle of the island. It has a 900 meter long asphalt strip and AFIS. Outside the opening hours you'll need PPR, but it's open most of the time. Landing fee and one night parking came to 12.50 EUR for small aircraft. As has been the case everywhere I've been in Germany, you feel very welcome as a GA pilot.
Many places in the former East Germany do not accept foreign credit cards, and this is the case at the Rügen airport. So bring cash for landing fee, fuel and lunch.
