Looking for group (non-equity) or cheap share south yorkshir

Postby lukechen89 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 4:26 pm

Hi,
is anyone aware of any groups or shares that are available within an hour of sheffield?
If its a share, nothing more than £1000.
for a non-equity group , somethine like a c172 for £600 annually and £60/ hour wet would be ideal.

I have been flying out of netherthorpe and gained my ppl over the summer and have about 60 hours total now.

thanks for any information:)

Luke

Sadly, I don't think you'll find a C172 for £60 an hour wet. Look at the fuel burn and the price per litre of Avgas :(

I reckon these are the lowest costs I have seen for a C172:

If only it was in my area..

Why not join the G-AVUG group at Nethers? £1500 for the share, £50 a month and £55 wet per hour. Well run group, at your home field.

Hi Luke.

Well done on the ppl!

I too did my ppl at nethers about 4 years ago. I live in chesterfield. I've been searching for an elusive cheap share in our neck of the woods for ages but to no avail! Currently flying out of Gamston.

I'm watching this post closely to see if anyone comes up with something I've missed. I did speak to a guy with a pa 28 at sandtoft a while ago (non equity) but didn't pursue it.

Safe flying and good luck!

Nadders.

Hi Luke

Unfortunately there does not appear to be many shares available in the area.

When I was looking there was little choice at either Nottingham,Gamston,Netherthorpe or East Midlands.

There are plenty of options to hire an C172 or Warrior at the above airfields at around £130 per hour.

Cheers Paul

Re the Pa28 at Breighton. Flyblackpool site says £70 on its front page but on closer inspection it seems to be £145.00 per hour + VAT + Landings.
Frequently misunderstood

Jim i've just done a search and it says it 70 per month and 70 per hour wet.

you also have to be a breighton member which sets you back 55 quid a year. but this gives you free home landing fees and free landings at about a dozen other airfields

Hi,
Sorry for not replying earlier as I thought I would have received email notifications if there were any replies to this thread.

I really appreciate all the kind replies and advice you have provided.

I managed to buy into an insurance share at my flying school which allowed me to fly a 172 wet at £80; however there are no more shares available for this.

I thought about g-avug but the club fees at sac took it out of budget.

Cheers,
Luke
