Round Britain from the air

Postby AerBabe » Mon Jun 04, 2012 10:49 am

I've been doing a fair bit of flying recently and am quite pleased with some of my pics. Thought I'd share them here.

They're on Flickr if anyone would like to see other sizes and a fairly random selection of other photos!

I really like them, a lot. Especially the trees ones.

How do you make a sub-station look interesting??? :D whatever you do, it works.

(Tree pic' 1 is my new wallpaper on my iPad :thumleft: )

Thank you! The tree ones are my favourites too.

The sub-station pics actually came about because I was tasked to take a photo on the theme of 'energy'. So that day I took lots of pylons, wind farms, power stations and ... sub-stations. The trick is to avoid photographing in the middle of the day. Morning or afternoon, when the sun is lower, is better. The light is less harsh and the shadows are longer/deeper, making the image more interesting.

Unfortunately, the nature of flexwing microlight flying is lots of buffet. It's really tricky to get a good, sharp image. But, when you can, the view is unrivalled.

Isn't that Dutton railway viaduct over the River Weaver, just NW of Acton Bridge ? Fiddlers Ferry power station in the background to the North.

Comparing the Google Earth view to my photo ... yes it is! Thank you!

Your prize is a small candle in the shape of a fairy castle. Where would you like me to send it? :D
