GA/AOPA - a new route

Postby ac11flyer » Fri Feb 24, 2012 3:31 pm

There is a recent discussion about how to promote GA in pilot und Flugzeug forum in Germany.
AOPA Germany is also involved, can we join forces?

AOPA UK currently has promoting GA on the agenda and will take up any good ideas from any source. Watch the AOPA GA Magazine and website for

Martin Robinson has frequent contact with AOPA Germany, so can pick up on any initiatives from them.

I've had a look at the pilot und Flugzeug forum, but must admit German is not my strong point so am probably missing the main subject matter. Have you picked up any specific ideas that you feel would work in the UK?

I've seen that thread on pilotundflugzeug, but it started while I was away for several weeks and has still been too dauntingly long for me to start to read. maybe I should..

The thread is called 'GA in der Öffentlichkeit'.
Started outside AOPA in the forum.

They plan a big event to show what GA is, we could join in and move it to an European level.

For those who haven't seen the thread, it's here.

It certainly sounds positive (to me), with the inevitable few detractors.

I can confirm that AOPA UK has some early plans for promoting GA in the UK, with hopefully some commercial involvement. Watch the website for details as they emerge. I can't give definite timescales.

Martin is also in disscussion with AOPA Germany on this subject, hopefully there will be some cross fertilisation of ideas.

In the meantime, especially if your grasp of German is better than mine (not difficult) and you have translated some gems from pilot und Flugzeug that would be worth pursuing please post them here (auf Englisch bitte).

Also any fresh ideas from anyone welcome.
