Aircraft booked, landing slot bought, airfield instructions downloaded, weather forecast being watched closely...

Tricky questions being prepared :)

Having not been to a large event like this before, what's it like when everyone wants to leave at 1600 or thereabouts? I won't need fuel, but is it likely that we'll be queuing up with 100 other aircraft to depart at the same time. Or should I plan to hang around and not expect to thinkg about leaving until say 1700?

I'm guessing that AFIS won't sequence aircraft by insisting we request start approval like at major airports...

SLOT AVAILABILITY

Postby alanevans » Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:30 pm

We still have slots available for 10th September:

As at this morning the slot situation was:
0930 1000 3 slots available
1000 -1015 Full
1015 - 1100 7 slots available
After 11 - good availability, except:
1200 - 1215 Full

Bonus Day visitors not attending the AOPA event are welcome to arrive after 11.30. These visitors should PPR in the normal way to the tower 01223 833376.

Don't wait to see the weekend weather before you book - it's not necessary. If the weather is bad and you don't fly, you can claim a refund of the landing fee.

DavidC: Anybody needing fuel should tell us on first radio call, so we park you in the best place. Departures tend to be self-sequencing by the way aircraft move from parking onto the taxiway. In the late afternoon there are very few new arrivals. It tends to be the Classic Wings Tiger Moths and Rapides going up and down. With a little bit of goodwill and patience, we can get everybody away reasonably quickly.

Alan.
