How do I get help from AOPA?

Postby Rich T » Fri Oct 01, 2010 10:47 am

I've been trying to contact AOPA to get some legal advice. A few weeks ago, I filled in an enquiry form on the web site, but no one has responded. Today I tried to chase it up by phone - after eventually locating what appears to be the main telephone number, no one answered the call.

I understand that the new web site has been launched, and perhaps my original enquiry got lost during the changeover. But, as a result, I'm disinclined to complete another enquiry form on the new site - I'd now prefer to talk to someone to ensure that my request is heard.

I offer a bit of feedback on the web site - please make the contact details more obvious (perhaps a menu option) - the current link is buried in the text of the "About Us" article and wasn't the first place that I found the number.

Thanks for the feedback

The menu system is one of the more tricky ones but if you click on "About AOPA UK" on the Main Menu it opens a new menu which contains a section headed "Contact Directory" which includes AOPA UK Office so you get what you want with two clicks from the Home Page.

The page you get to is here.. It contains a Google Map and a contact list of office staff. Clicking on one of those will give you full contact details and the ability to send them an e-mail.

The phone number is automatically answered and gives you a menu of choices. If the person you want is on the phone or absent you are invited to leave a message. I've just tested it and it's working fine from here.

Since I don't have a clue about your real name your membership number or how to contact you other than through here you're not making it particularly easy for me to deal with your issue. Your best bet is to e-mail info@aopa.co.uk requesting a return receipt. By all means also follow this up with a phone call and if you end up in a voicemail box leave your name and number so the office staff can call you back. My own phone number is in my contact details on the website here if you want to get in touch but it's really the office you need to speak to. I suspect Neil Monks is the guy who will be able to take the information and get you an answer. He is not full time.

I suppose if you know which person you want and choose an option, you may be forwarded to their voicemail. Unfortunately, none of the menu options seemed appropriate to my circumstance so I just held on, and it rang out.

Touché! This forum has a tricky system, but next to my post are two buttons that enable you to send a PM or an email, so you get what you want with one click from my post.

Perhaps coincidentally, I have just had a reply to my original web site enquiry from George Done, so I'll continue directly with him. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Rich, glad George has been in touch. Good luck with whatever the issue is.

:D

I must admit, the idea of being an 'eye in the sky' appeals, but I couldn't afford to pay for it
