Sorry to be a bit tearful but:

I had the most brilliant night last night only to be destroyed by this news as we drove home early this morning.

Airc I first heard him live in 1975, thanks to my number two at work, impressing on me the music of a brilliant and exciting band and also insisting I go with him to see Springsteen live. (me spend money on music over Motorcycles at that time!!!)

There on stage was another giant with music running through his soul, he was the very very best in his genre and a fantastic human being. It seemed he could make that sax turn your heart inside out and he was as good live, as recorded, well actually better live.(always amazed at how good the E Street band is, same goes for the Blockheads btw) He really got the best out of the Devil's instrument and did so much more music and "stuff" than just the E street band too.

We last saw him in Manchester in 2009 and he was everybit as good as he could ever be.

This morning the world of music is a sadder place without him, such a shame his time was up.
