Damnation of Faust ENO

Postby Timothy » Thu Jun 02, 2011 10:57 pm

Saw this this evening. It is staged by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame.

It is absolutely unmissable, whatever your view of Berlioz, or of staging Damnation, it is just one of the most stunning bits of theatre ever...up there with His Dark Materials and Warhorse.

3rd thread down ;)

I completely agree with your comments though - the particular highlight for me was the fool's ballet of turn of the century monarchs dissolving into no man's land and the trench hospital.

PS I heard you chatting up the Farnborough controller earlier and (possibly) saw you land at Biggin just as I was cycling past the 03 threshold.
I know it's a silly username. If you've met me, I probably introduced myself as Josh...

That was my colleague Ilya. I was mentoring him.
