I have just been to see Terry Gilliam's production of Faust at the ENO and it was utterly superb. The staging has the odd weak moment, but in general works extremely well. Marvelling at the staging distracted me from realising until about half way through how good the orchestra and singers are. The final descent into hell and Marguerite's ascent to heaven were the icing on the cake.
If you're in the London area, and you think this might in any way, shape or form be your thing, go and see it...
