Over the last two or three days every time I connect to the Flyer site Avast has blocked something and comes up with this

Infection Details
URL: http://imgs203.imgeshacks.su/forum/index...
Process: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox...
Infection: URL:Mal

Any advice?

Install the adblock or adblock + plugin for Firefox

Thanks kingjame

Adblock has been installed on this pc for a long time. Current version - plus 2.1.2
Nothing changed at my end as far as I am aware.

That looks fishy: there's no way your forum connection should be linking to a forum at imgeshacks.su.

I'll have a burrow to see what I can find about that link.

Nope, very fishy indeed. The .su domain is "Soviet Union" and hasn't been in use officially for some years. That particular domain is registered, belongs to a "private individual" (no more details available) but has no valid path to it. It sounds like a browser hijack to a site that's been taken down.

I reckon a check on your virus/malware protection is a priority.

Did the internet even exist when the soviet union was around?

As Keef says plus in addition to Avast you could try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

When I was using Avast I found it missed problems that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware picked up even after a definition update. After this I changed to the Mircrosoft essentials which seem to do the trick.

A boot scan is a very good idea as the minimum is loaded.

I guess the Internet mst have existed then - they allocated .su to the Товарищи!
Yes, virus AND malware check - Avast and Malwarebytes would do fine, but there are alternatives.

Thanks for all your advice - much appreciated.

I have Avast and Malwarebytes on my pc (as a result of forum recommendation of some time ago - what a great resource this place is)

It was Avast that was catching the rogue URL but I have since carried out full scans with Avast and Malwarebytes and found nothing.

Also, today when I logged into Flyer I didn't get Avast reporting the issue so whatever it was, it seems to have gone away. Nothing I've done I suspect.

Again thanks for your help.
