Forum pages split vertically ?

Why am I getting forum pages split vertically ? there is a half page gap between the smilies and the adverts. This doesn't happen on the Index pages.

I haven't changed any laptop settings.
Sometimes you're the pigeon and sometimes you're the statue...........

Something similar happening with my iPad. Pages get squeezed over to the left with blank RH side
