Image width restriction

Postby Katamarino » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:57 pm

Do we really need to still limit images to 800px width? I think most people are now on monitors larger than 15"! It can be a real pain; for example, I host all the photos on my own site at 1000px wide, which makes it frustrating if I wish to post said image in a post on here. Can we up the limit?
Cessnas have feelings too!

It's not the user's monitor size that restricts it, but the PHP software. If you go over 800 pixels, it will cut off the rest. To prevent that happening, the forum system tells you when your pic is too large.

If you don't have the facility to resize your own pix, use the PHP rimg (resize image) command.

For example: [ rimg width=800 ] <picture URL> [ /rimg ] (leaving out the spaces).

Aha! Didn't know about that! That's cool...

Oh, that's handy.

Keef (or maybe techguy), is it possible to include those tags above the edit window when posting (e.g. in the same way as the [youtube] tags)?

Maybe Liam can. I don't mess with the innards of PHP if I can help it.

Folks would still need to know what RIMG means, and how to define it.
