A baseball cap just screams of mid-life crisis, convertible and receding hairline
Actually, given a modest sized iron on cloth badge, I would put one on a baseball cap and one on a polo shirt.
It is unfortunate that baseball caps seem to have that connotation in Europe, they are ubiquitous for all ages in North America and are a very practical way of keeping sun and glare out of your eyes, especially when flying. I shall continue to wear one as I am not bothered by what others think.

As do I, though it doesn't seem to help much. Thinking laterally about this, and along the lines of the secret handshake, how would people feel about an application on your phone that told you another Forumite was within hailing distance?
Pin badges are a nice idea but no use over a crowded airfield: I've missed meet-ups for this reason.
I favour a flyer colour lanyard with name badge: Lanyards are not out of place at airfields and do provide an initial clue of the wearer's likely identity which can be followed up by inspecting the name badge dangling in the region of the wearer's crotch............
I find I still have two ot the flyer list hats: I only wore one once or twice as it was far too hot and the button at the top drilled a hole in my head under pressure from the headset.

Caps without a 'button' to poke you under the headset are at a premium actually! I always have an eye out for them.
I think that depends where you are based...if you are at an airfield that requires an ID then they'll be great. If you are a strip flyer you'll look a bit overdressed!

Actually I keep the aircraft keys on a lanyard with a quick release connector near the bottom for when I need to actually use them - having them around my neck is better than strapping in to discover they're still in my pocket

Isn't that sooooo annoying
Imagine what you might try if you thought you could not fail...
