Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

Of course it does......in America anything not prohibited is allowed.....it's only in Europe that anything not allowed is prohibited

That is actually also a basic principle of the common law.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that lots of smaller bizjetsjets are approved to operate off grass, though with fairly vague performance charts and assumptions.

When there was an airfield at Castlebar, about 600 yards I think, there was a Citation based there. Tarmac though.

Specific prohibition, innit? Not an absence of allowedness........

But Josh's point is probably the relevant one.....US law tends to follow English law and you can do stuff unless told otherwise. These days aviation in Europe (inc UK) is governed by European law, which has a different basis - you can't do it unless we say you can.

The English way is much simpler but allows the common herd way too much freedom

Reminds me of one I saw many years ago in Oxford:

Please keep off the grass.
Ne pas marcher sur la pelouse.
Das Betreten der Rasenfläche ist strengstens untersagt!

Thanks for reminding me!
