Bristol Airspace / ObstructionsIf you are ever likely to go scud running along the M5, M4, M48 or River Severn, just north of Bristol, then beware:
http://developments.southglos.gov.uk/on ... 455815.doc Two big wind turbines planned at Ingst, right where you might have oncoming or crossing left/right traffic. The GAAC and AOPA take a dim view of that, as do I. Closing date for objections is January 28.
Re: Bristol Airspace / ObstructionsDocument unavailable.....
I intend to live forever.... so far, so good.
[Edited to remove Council links as they seem to expire.]
There is an aviation report by consultants Osprey Consulting Services Ltd. There is no mention that GA even exists. This is a good bit Para 15.39: "The DOI on behalf of the MOD has requested that the turbines [136 metres AMSL] be fitted with appropriate aviation lighting and it is understood that infra-red lighting (invisible to the naked eye) may be sufficient. " Plan view of surrounding area: ![]() Turbine locations are dots in the centre. Last edited by SteveN on Thu Jan 03, 2013 10:37 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Edited to say the links appear to expire. Sorry.
Of course this is the same council that killed off Filton so they may have a anti Pilot filter A local newspaper has the story on it's front page: http://tinyurl.com/ba4h8na Last edited by SteveN on Thu Jan 03, 2013 10:01 pm, edited 2 times in total.

Re: Bristol Airspace / ObstructionsBlimey.
The only way I would fly into one them is if I had just had an engine failure & was trying to avoid the adjacent Severn bridges, motorways, 200'+ pylons, high ground etc.
